Clean Air Gem: Shari Dixon

Beautiful, feminine, strong

Jewelry motifs developed by Shari Dixon immortalize natural objects — pressed flowers, snakeskin, leaves — and seals their fragile existence in resin that preserves their form and adds an eye-catching gloss.

Making beautiful objects for a decade

Sentry Air is pleased to feature Shari’s work here on Jewel Day 2013.

Sentry Air is familiar withShari’s work because she’s our customer.

Why a jewelry designer needs air cleaners

Shari’s practice is growing and now incorporates the work of twelve artisans.

As is true for many art forms, the processes they use to make beautiful jewelry can expose them to fumes that shouldn’t be inhaled.

The Sentry Air Ductless Fume Hoods they use pull fumes away from the artisans’ breathing zones and into activated carbon filters that prevent the fumes from spreading throughout the studio.

Air cleaners can also protect products

When Shari added a Sentry Air Portable Room Air Cleaner with a HEPA filter to her clean-air approach to work, she found there was less dust to mar her products as they awaited completion.

It’s artistry to us

Although we crazy love them, our products are not what most people would consider traditionally beautiful.

But designing air cleaners that help keep people healthy is artistry to us.

Take a look at the lovely objects below, which can be found in Shari’s studio and on our website.

Model SS-324-DCH, a 24” Wide High Flow Ductless Fume Hood, with Activated Carbon Pre-filter and 10 lb. Activated Carbon Filter.

SS-218-DCH, an 18” Wide Ductless Fume Hood with Activated Carbon Pre-filter and 2.5 lb Activated Carbon Filter.

For dust control, a SS-200-PRAC, a Portable Room Air Cleaner equipped with a particle pre-filters and a HEPA filter, which captures particles as small as 0.3 microns. For reference, a human hair is ~12 microns.
